Mother and daughter victims were living without electricity, running water, and barely had any food when a man was arrested by the National Police for continuous fraud. The man allegedly coaxed the elderly women from Marín, Pontevedra to surrender their bank booklets so he could steal their pension every month.

One of the victims sent a letter to the police that sparked the investigation. In the letter, she narrated how an individual was harassing them and making off with their pension. Agents of UFAM started gathering information in response to the complaint and visited the house of the women. They found the mother bedridden, elderly, and in a completely helpless condition.

During their investigation, the police found out that the mother and daughter were living in appalling conditions without basic necessities like electricity and running water. Food was scarce as well, and their living conditions were poor.

After interviewing the women, it became apparent that a neighbor had taken control of their bank account, which he emptied through repeated cash withdrawals. Thus, he left the women with an empty account, financial difficulty, and even worse living conditions.

The police reported the matter to the authorities which prompted a joint investigation, including a check on the bank account of the elderly women. It was discovered that the man systematically emptied the entire pension amount every month, leaving no funds for the victims.

To assist, social services were alerted to take charge of the situation, providing assistance to ensure their safety. In addition, the man was arrested and taken to court.
